TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Blackline Joinery
Last updated: 24 May 2026
ABOUT THESE TERMS
These terms cover two things:
1. The use of our website at blacklinejoinery.com.au
2. The work we do for clients on custom joinery and renovation projects
By using our website, requesting a quote, or engaging us to do work, you agree to these terms. We've kept them plain and short. If anything is unclear, get in touch and we'll explain.
Nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
WHO WE ARE
Blackline Joinery is a custom joinery business based at 64 Bayldon Road, Queanbeyan West NSW 2620, run by Christian and Andrew.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Blackline Joinery. "You" and "your" mean the person or business using our website or engaging us to do work.
WEBSITE USE
You can browse our website, view our work, submit enquiries, and request a quote.
The content, images, designs and copy on the site are owned by Blackline Joinery, or used with permission. You can share links to our pages, but you cannot copy, reproduce, or republish the content without our written consent.
We do our best to keep the site accurate and up to date. From time to time, images, project examples, pricing references, or supplier names may change. We don't guarantee the site is free of errors, and we're not liable for any loss caused by relying on the information shown.
Our website may link to other sites (suppliers, social platforms, industry bodies). We don't control those sites and we're not responsible for their content.
QUOTES
Quotes are free. We will visit your home or site, take measurements ourselves, and provide a written quote based on what we discuss with you.
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued, unless we tell you otherwise in writing. After 30 days, material costs and our availability may have changed, and we may need to re-quote.
A quote includes the scope of work, materials, finishes, and the price we've agreed to deliver it for. Anything not listed in the quote is not included.
Verbal quotes or estimates are indicative only. We will only consider ourselves bound by a written quote, signed off in writing by you.
DEPOSITS AND DETAILED DRAWINGS
We don't release detailed working drawings before a deposit is paid. This is because designing a project properly takes real time, and we want to make sure both sides are committed before that work begins.
The deposit amount will be set out in your quote. It is generally a percentage of the total project cost.
Once the deposit is paid, we will produce the detailed drawings, finalise selections with you, and lock in the production schedule.
Deposits are non-refundable once we begin design or production work. If you cancel before any work has started, the deposit will be refunded minus any costs we've already incurred.
ACCEPTANCE AND ENGAGEMENT
A project is confirmed when:
- You accept the written quote in writing (email is fine)
- The deposit has been paid
Until both of those things happen, we are not committed to a start date or a delivery timeline.
PAYMENT TERMS
The payment schedule for each project will be set out in your quote. Typically, we ask for:
- A deposit on acceptance
- A progress payment before installation
- The balance on completion
We accept payment by bank transfer or credit card. Bank details are provided on your invoice.
Invoices are due within 7 days unless otherwise stated. Late payments may attract interest at a reasonable commercial rate, and we may pause work on your project until the overdue amount is paid.
TIMELINES
We give you a realistic timeline up front. We'll keep you updated as the project progresses.
Timelines are estimates, not guarantees. They can be affected by things outside our control, including:
- Material supply delays
- Other trades on site (plumbers, electricians, tilers)
- Site access restrictions
- Weather, where it affects deliveries or site work
- Variations you ask for during the build
If a delay is going to affect your project, we'll let you know as soon as we know. We don't disappear, and we don't dodge the conversation.
VARIATIONS
A variation is any change to the agreed scope of work after the quote is accepted. This includes changes to:
- Layout or design
- Materials, finishes, or hardware
- Quantities or dimensions
- Inclusions or exclusions
Variations must be agreed in writing before we proceed. We will provide a variation cost and any timeline impact at the time of agreement.
If a variation increases the project scope, the deposit or payment schedule may need to be adjusted.
SITE ACCESS AND CONDITIONS
Before we install, you need to make sure:
- The site is safe and accessible during agreed installation hours
- Power and water are available where needed
- Other trades have completed their relevant work, where this affects our install (for example, tiling or plumbing rough-in)
- Pets and personal items are secured or moved out of the work area
If we arrive on site and can't proceed because of site readiness issues, we may charge a re-attendance fee.
MATERIALS AND SUBSTITUTIONS
We use quality materials from established Australian suppliers, including Polytec, Caesarstone, Laminex and similar.
From time to time, a supplier may discontinue a colour, finish, or product. If that happens, we will discuss the closest available alternative with you before substituting.
Natural materials like timber and stone have natural variation in colour, grain, and pattern. Showroom samples are a guide, not a guarantee of an exact match.
TRADES AND SUBCONTRACTORS
For larger projects we coordinate other trades (plumbers, electricians, tilers, plasterers). Where those trades are engaged through us, we'll manage their work as part of your project.
Where you've engaged other trades directly, we're responsible only for our own work and the coordination we've agreed to provide. We can't be held liable for the work or conduct of trades you've engaged independently.
WARRANTY
We stand behind our work. We offer the following warranty on the joinery we manufacture and install:
- Structural integrity of joinery: 7 years from completion
- Hardware (hinges, runners, handles): in line with the manufacturer's warranty, typically 1 to 2 years
- Finishes (paint, laminate, stone): in line with the manufacturer's warranty
The warranty covers defects in our workmanship and materials.
The warranty does not cover:
- Damage caused by misuse, accident, or normal wear and tear
- Water damage caused by failure to maintain seals or address leaks promptly
- Modifications or repairs made by anyone other than us
- Damage caused by other trades after our installation is complete
- Natural variation in materials (see Materials and Substitutions above)
To claim under warranty, contact us in writing with photos and a description of the issue. We will respond within a reasonable time and arrange to inspect, repair, or replace as appropriate.
These warranties are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
CANCELLATIONS
You can cancel a project at any time, but the financial impact depends on where the project is up to:
- Before deposit: no cost
- After deposit, before any design or production work has begun: full refund of the deposit minus any costs already incurred
- After design has begun but before production: deposit is forfeited
- After production has begun: deposit is forfeited, and you remain liable for the cost of work, materials, and trade commitments already in progress
We don't penalise you beyond what we've actually spent or committed.
LIABILITY
To the extent permitted by law:
- Our liability for any single project is limited to the total amount you've paid us for that project
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or commercial losses (for example, lost rental income, accommodation costs, or business losses)
- We are not liable for the actions, omissions, or work of trades you have engaged directly
Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW
Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. These include guarantees that services will be:
- Provided with due care and skill
- Fit for the purpose you've made known to us
- Provided within a reasonable time
If we fail to meet one of these guarantees, you are entitled to remedies under the law. Nothing in these terms removes or reduces those rights.
PRIVACY
We handle personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, available at blacklinejoinery.com.au/privacy-policy. The policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it secure.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION
If something goes wrong, talk to us first. Most issues are misunderstandings that can be sorted out with a phone call or a site visit.
If we can't sort it out between us, both sides agree to attempt mediation through a recognised mediation service in NSW before starting any legal action.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any legal proceedings must be brought in a NSW court.
CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms from time to time. The most current version will always be at blacklinejoinery.com.au/terms-and-conditions with the last updated date at the top.
For projects already underway, the terms in your accepted quote take priority over any later changes to this page.
